Welcome to our FAQ page, we have posted answers to questions that we get asked all of the time. If you have a question that isn't posted here, please feel free to click on the contact page and send us your information and we will be happy to get in touch with you! We are going on vacation, and we aren't sure what to do with our home and our kitty. There are so many options, why go this route? We are in business to make things easier for you, to bring our service to you, to take care of your home, your household responsibilities, and give you the peace of mind knowing that there is someone handling everything for you, so that you may enjoy that vacation. If you go to a boarding facility, who is giving your pets the TLC they need and deserve? How much time are they out of the kennels during the day? There isn't usually much grass area around the local kennels, so where do they go potty and get exercise? If you have a neighbor watch your pets, it is hard to ask them to watch over your home and belongings, take care of the extras that need to be done, and if something does happen, most neighbors don't know who to call or feel they are being imposed on, now that a problem has arisen. This is our business. This is all that we do. We have the experience and the know-how to get the job done and our repeat clients let us know we are doing the job right!
What sets you apart from a pet sitter? Pet sitters will look after the pets, administer medications, take the dog for walks, give attention, feed, water, and most of them will check the mail too. What sets us apart is we also take care of the home. We check the perimeter of the home, make sure doors and windows are secured, remove flyers from the doors, turn the blinds and turn on lights to let potential thieves know SOMEONE IS IN CARE OF THIS HOME SO MOVE ON! We look for pooled water around sprinkler systems that shouldn't be there, pool pumps that may not be running properly, look around appliances for visible signs of potential problems, including water heaters. These are things that homeowners do on a regular basis! Your home and pets are in our care, we want to treat them as you do!
What do you do on overnight visits? We bring our own food, our own linens and we tend to your home for 5-10 hours. We make sure the home is secured and take care of the household duties you have entrusted us to do. In the morning, we open the blinds, turn off evening lights, clean off the counters we prepared our food on, tidy the bathroom we used, feed the cat, water the plants, scoop the litter box and after we make sure everything is done, then we double check the security of your home.
What if I need you for daytime and nighttime visits? As described in the last question, we would do all of the evening and morning tasks, and then if you hired us to return a few times during the day, we would come back for those visits as well. We pack our own snacks and water for the day time trips to your home, and we treat your home as though we would want our own homes to be treated, with care!
What if there is a problem that arises at my home? If the water heater decides to overflow, or a sprinkler head pops off, or the pool pump wont shut off, the first thing we do is call you, the home owner. Anytime something doesn't seem right, we know you would want to be the first to be called! Upon your instructions, we will call the repairman, the plumber, the yardman, but you are always our first call!
What if there were to be a break-in? We take extra measures to make sure your doors are secured, the lights are on, the flyers are removed, the newspaper picked-up, and that your house looks occupied, we only use un-advertised vehicles as well. This is a real deterrent for people who want to break into your home, but if there ever was a break-in, you would be notified, as well as the police, and upon your instructions, your insurance company, if you desired us to make that call. To this date, we have never encountered this situation, but we are prepared for any circumstance that arises and would handle this situation in the same professional care and concern that we handle everything we do.
Who is it that comes to our home for visits? One of the reasons we are successful in our business, is our approach to building relationships with our customers. The person who comes out to your home for the free consultation, is the same person who will be taking care of your home while you are gone. We have a sitter on standby in case someone gets ill, but we haven't had to resort to that yet! But, at least we are prepared if we ever need a back-up!
What is the “Seasonal Visitor” service you offer? When our winter visitors and east coast visitors have 2 homes, one here and one there, we understand how hard it is to take care of both places when it is only possible to be at one at a time! We can spray for weeds, take flyers off the door, air the home out, do light cleaning to keep the dust at bay, we check on the appliances, and if there is a problem, rest assured we will call you and let you know! Imagine the water heater pouring water into your home here, and you are in North Dakota! How do you know it’s happened? Who is going to clean up the mess so you don’t have a moldy disaster to come back to? We are your peace of mind when you are back home, taking care of things there. We are here to help make it easier for you to have 2 homes! Our rates for this service are very affordable!
Do I have to pay you by check? We accept checks, yes, but we also accept cash, and we also have a “Pay Now” button on our website that will allow you to pay via credit card, check, or PayPal account - via the secure, trusted PayPal website, on the services page.
